The length of our courses vary from a weekend, 4 week days or 3-6 months so you can choose the course that suites you best. Gateway 2
Improve your qualifications to find work, improve your learning skills, gain access to University. In just 10 weeks of intensive study you can achieve the NOCN Level 2 Gateway Diploma, your passport to higher education, which can lead you to better employment opportunities, improved lifestyle
and gain you entry to University Prep, the final stage before University. This residential course is for women who want to achieve qualifications, are returning to education after a break and need to improve, broaden, and strengthen skills. Gateway will help you to build your confidence and manage your learning successfully.We want you to succeed and we want to make sure you are on a course that will ensure your success. Although you do not need any formal qualifications, we will ask you to complete an assessment (including an interview) and if we feel you still
need a little more coaching then we can start you off on the Level 1 Gateway course which will quickly prepare you for this Gateway Level 2 programme. The course will cover all you need to move forward: English, Maths, Information, Communication and Technology, Research Skills, Study and Learning skills, Personal Development, Social Sciences. We will also enhance your learning experience through: Academic and Pastoral Tutorials Progression advice, Educational visits to museums, places of historical and social interest, Study skills workshops, Guest speakers, Enrichment activities.

Prep for University - Option 1
This intensive 10 month residential course, allows you to focus your talents, raise your standard and bring to you the opportunity to gain access to University. It is designed to bridge the gap for those with GCSE but did not continue with their studies, so if thats you and you want to move forward into Academic study, then this course will help you make tracks to a successful future.This level 3 course Option 1: One academic year to complete this comprehensive course that prepares you for studying at Higher education. The University prep covers four mandatory areas:Essay writing,Examination Skills, Preparatio and Technique,Finding and Reading Information, Research Project For those of you who want to raise your skills we can offer an additional Open University qualification which will take you upto level 4. Both courses include Maths, ICT, English and Science (which are offered at GCSE equivalent) plus the optional additional subjects of Science, The Creative Industries or Social studies.

This course is the first stepping stone to a bright new future in Teaching.

Community Volunteers in Events Management
Putting on a show
This course will get you up to speed with the skills you need to work as a volunteer in the area of events management. Youll learn about action planning, risk assessment and health and safety, teamwork and how to define roles and responsibilities. Youll learn how to plan, to negotiate and delegate and that old favourite how to manage deadlines. Youll also look at the big picture, exploring the ethical issues that can arise when considering how fundraising events relate to an organisations mission and vision.

Strengthening Families - Strengthening Communities
Introduction to the Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities parent education programme is specifically designed to promote some of the factors associated with 'good parenting' (developing close and warm relationships between parents and children; using methods of discipline that support self-discipline in children; fostering self-esteem of children; developing strategies to deal with risky situations; managing anger).
The programme aims to increase parental confidence and help parents achieve positive change in family relationships. It also helps parents strengthen bonds with their children and learn more effective holistic parenting skills.
This introduction will lead you onto the full strengthening families, strengthening communities programme.

Esol Summer School
A lively and fun course for people who want to improve their English - fast
This course is for speakers of other languages who want to learn English and build their confidence. Its suitable for everyone from Beginners to Advanced - You can Join the group that best suits you. During this three-week course you will visit different areas of London and join in discussions and debates with other students. You will learn how to use a computer, a digital camera and IT, and how to make a presentation. You will improve your speaking and comprehension skills - and you will have fun doing it. At the end of the course you will take the English Speaking Board (ESB) Speaking and Listening Test. Plus There will be an opportunity for some students to work towards the foundation award.

Stepping up - Fast Track Career Booster
Had enough of your current work' Want to move your career forward' Make changes and better yourself' Do you want to fast track to a new level in your work life' Then this intensive and dynamic course will put you in the driving seat and enable you to develop your professional and leadership skills fast. During the course you can complete the Certificate in Leadership and Management and have an opportunity to move on to the Diploma. As well as taking part in formal learning activities, you will work on projects with employers and learn the secrets of success from guest speakers from the business community. Those progressing to the diploma will have the opportunity to join the Hillcroft mentor scheme.

Dyslexia Strategies
Dyslexia should not be a problem for any one especially if you know how to deal with it. If you have, or think you have dyslexia, we can offer you help and advice including an initial interview and a diagnostic assessment, one-to-one learning support, access to specialist software, support with exam arrangements, and a series of courses designed to help you progress.
ESOL
ESOL Courses are designed to help and support those women for whom English is not their first language. ESOL covers: speaking and listening; reading and writing; vocabulary; punctuation and grammar. Using a mixture of taught sessions and external trips, there is plenty of opportunity to practice and develop confidence in both spoken and written English. For those who wish to progress further there is the opportunity to take part in the Cambridge ESOL examinations.

The Gateway program to Higher Education, is the best choice, if you missed out on education first time round. Each course is made up of: class led sessions, tutorials and independent study, these courses will help put you back on track to a more independent lifestyle, improved career prospects, with many successfully going on to University.

IT and Digital Arts
IT Courses that cover a broad spectrum: For those who are new to IT through to those more confident users, who want to grow and develop their creative skills. From IT for Beginners, basic Web Design, Spreadsheets, to Digital Photography and Film Making, there are lots of activities that can help in work and personnel life.
Literacy and Numeracy
Courses for Women designed to improve confidence in speaking, listening, reading, writing or maths or to gain a GCSE in English. If you would you like to be more confident in speaking, listening, reading, writing or maths, we offer supportive groups in which you can work at improving your skills at your own pace.
Moving Forward
This assessment and guidance programme is designed for those of you who are returning to education and want to explore your options. The course has been especially written for those of you wanting to enrol on courses but who are unsure of their level, goals and aspirations. It will allow you to explore a range of possibilities and have fun with other likeminded women in a peaceful space (We advise all new students to attend Starting Points if possible before joining other courses).
Personal Development
Personal Development courses at Hillcroft are designed to help you understand your personal life situation, the impact of past events, present circumstances and future aspirations to enable you to make more informed choices going forward. There are courses in Parenting Skills, Complementary Health, Creative Writing and more.
