Heritage

Hillcroft is housed in a Victorian Mansion House built in the 1860s for Frederick Bryant of Bryant and May matches. The building is very typical of its time and retains many of its original features. Margaret Bryant’s interest in birds, flowers and astrology is very evident in the stained glass (of which there are some fine examples) and the pargetting. Hillcroft participates in the Kingston Upon Thames Heritage Open Day programme. (The dates for 2009 are 10 –14 September.) Places on the tours under this scheme are by appointment only.

Throughout its existence the college has accumulated photographs, letters and other records which illuminate the way it has developed since 1920. Hillcroft has worked with Kingston Museum to showcase its long and interesting history.
