Hillcroft is a residential college for women which specialises in providing learning opportunities for women who have not had the chance to complete their education. Its Mission is to enable adult women disadvantaged by educational or social factors to progress to higher education, vocational training and/or employment.
Annual Leave
The leave year runs from 1 August to 31 July for academic staff and from 1 January to 31 December for support staff and the annual entitlement is detailed below. Statutory Bank / Public Holidays are in addition if they fall on a day which would be a normal working day.
Support Staff
The basic annual leave entitlement is 20 working days rising to 21 days after 5 years service and rising thereafter by 1 day each year to a maximum of 30 days after 15 years’ service.
Academic Staff
The annual leave entitlement is 40 working days. (Lead Tutors pro rata to 35 days).
Managers (support staff)
The annual leave entitlement is 25 working days. After 5 years’ service this rises by 1 day each year to a maximum of 30 days after 10 years’ service.

Hillcroft operates two pension schemes – the Teachers Pension Scheme for all teaching staff and the Local Government Scheme for all support staff (final salary scheme)
The setting
The College is situated in three acres of attractive lawns and woodland and is a two minute walk from Surbiton main line train station. The main building is a fine Victorian mansion which retains many of its original features and fittings. There are fifty-six study bedrooms, twenty of which are located in a newer residential block, known as Powell House, within the grounds.
