FEM '11

Hillcroft College participated at the FEM 11 conference at Friends House on the 12th November. This unique event discussed women’s concerns in the UK and gathered around 1000 women preoccupied with equality advancement. The event included speakers such as Sandi Toksvig (Radio 4), Shami Chakrabarti (Liberty), Zoe Williams (the Guardian), Carlene Firmin (campaigner), and Bea Campbell (author and journalist). The themes covered during the day ranged from body politics and men’s engagement in social transformation to promoting equality. The final session was an open debate with 3 of the Mayoral candidates for London: Ken Livingstone (Labour), Brian Paddick (Liberal) and Natalie Bennett (Green party's chair for women representing Jenny Jones) Boris Johnson decided not show up to the debate.
