Aziza
Background:
Aziza was born and brought up in Afghanistan. At the age of 15 she left to study Nursing in the Ukraine. She learned Russian and completed a Diploma in Nursing. Due to financial problems, she was unable to take up a nursing position in the Ukraine and so she did various jobs which she knew weren’t going anywhere. In 2000 she moved on her own to the UK where she had to learn English from scratch.
Why Hillcroft?
She heard about the ESOL Summer Course at Hillcroft and enrolled on the 4 week programme. During this time she achieved so well she was encouraged to enrol on the Access to Higher Education course. At first she was concerned about her English, understanding other students and terrified about assignments and was reassured by the offer of individual learning support to help her overcome these fears.
Aziza says:
"Hillcroft has changed my life and given me the knowledge, skills and hope that I can achieve my dream to study at University."
