Vicki

Background:

Vicki left school without any qualifications due to illness. She tried 6th Form College for a while but it didn’t work out so she found the first job she could with accommodation and then spent the next 10 years waitressing, washing up and cleaning. She attempted a few courses along the way but never finished any of them.

Why Hillcroft?

Vicki decided to apply to Hillcroft, thinking that it would give her a unique opportunity to study without the distractions rent and money worries. As an eligible residential student she qualified for a bursary which enabled her to focus on her studies. With the huge amount of support here, she feels she has had a chance to do something different – to finish a course and consider University.

Vicki says:

"I don’t believe that it would have been possible for me to have studied anywhere else without the encouragement and the time staff have been willing to give at Hillcroft. I hope to carry on learning new skills, gain confidence in studying and have come to believe that it is possible to go on to further study and find a long-awaited career!"
